No need to run away with the circus, we’ve brought the circus to you with Circus Saturdays in August (August 9, 16, & 23) for back to school fun at our circus school. Join us with some of the top instructors in Memphis circus and flow arts for a series of engaging workshops in the creative art of play! From hula hooping, to circus conditioning, partner acrobatics, parkour, juggling, and staff. Pop-in for one workshop or try them all.

Each workshop is $25. Early bird discounts $5 off each workshop when you register and pay in advance (by Thursday each week), or register for 4 workshops for the price of 3 ($75)!

Workshop Descriptions:

Twin Hooping - Hooper Troopers11:00 – 12:30 – Intro to Twin Hooping with Chloe O’Hearn & Adriene Holland

Everything is better in pairs! Learn the basics of using two hoops instead of one. We’ll start with building coordination and simple movements using both hands, and introduce the double weave and figure 8, waist hooping + lasso combo, and other fun and fancy twin hoop moves.

 

  • A bit of partner work will be included so bring a friend (or make one here)!
  •  Proficiency in waist hooping and hand hooping with one hoop recommended.
  •  Please bring 2 hoops of the same size/weight for this class if you have them – preferably no larger than 36’’ in diameter. Hoops will also be available for use in class.

Partner Acro

1:00 – 2:30 – Circus Strong! with Danielle Bayliss

Get a strong start to our Circus Saturdays series! In this workshop you will learn body patterning and build core strength needed for circus-style, aerial and ground acrobatics. We will practice light tumbling and gymnastics and work on balance, flexibility, inversions and body awareness.

 

  • Come in comfortable, but fitted clothes, and be prepared to be upside-down.
  • For teens and adults.



Partner Acro3:00 – 4:30 – Intro to Partner Acrobatics with Danielle Bayliss

Learn how to fly and base acrobatic stunts and tricks! In this class you will work in pairs and groups, performing magnificent feats of balance and strength, using your partner as an apparatus. Come prepared to get off the ground and upside-down! You do not need a partner for this class; just a trusting nature and a sense of adventure!

 

  • Please come in comfortable, fitted clothing that allows you to move and invert.
  • For teens and adults.
